Presentation on how to develop entrepreneurship of micro enterprises in Cyprus

The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry within its participation in the European project Open Educational Resources for the Development of Arts and Crafts (oer - Craft) made a presentation on Thursday 24th of November, to young people who have very small businesses or are engaged in arts and crafts and want to pursue a career within their industry, on challenges and opportunities for micro- entrepreneurship in Cyprus.

At the event, among others, the Chamber presented various funding sources from European funds, the objectives set by the Cypriot government and the European Union for the development of entrepreneurship and the OER-CRAFT platform that is planned within the project to support entrepreneurship microenterprises and enterprises engaged in arts and crafts.

OER-CRAFT aims at developing innovative training solutions to enhance the effectiveness and competitiveness of microenterprises, especially in the context of participation to national and EU markets, by developing relevant training solutions and material to strengthen the capacity of existing micro and craft-type of enterprises to strive in the current economic environment. CRAFT is devoted to all those individuals who wish to establish their own micro and craft-type enterprise as a response to the crisis or unemployment.

The idea behind OER-CRAFT is to develop and deploy Open Educational Resources (open and widely available training content and modules) targeted at micro and craft-type enterprises to foster their access to the EU single market and EU opportunities to ultimately enhance their competitiveness. The concept is to promote growth and employment by leveraging underutilised EU opportunities and promoting participation to EU Single Market.

The presentation was made by Mr. Makis F. Tsiatsios, Public and Foreign Relations Manager of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For more information on the oer platform you can visit the website
